Fat and suet based products are essential high energy food sources for wild birds especially in the cold winter months. They are a vey good source of protein and nutrients when insects and other food sources are scarce. There are over 80 species of bird that are known to be attracted to suet including blackbirds, robins, thrushes, starlings, woodpeckers and jays.

 

Suet and Fatball Feeders can be placed almost anywhere to attract wild birds: in and against trees, hung next to seed feeders and even on the ground. In the warmer months be sure to keep any suet or fat based products out of direct sunlight and in the shade to prevent them from melting. If it is particularly hot these products can be refrigerated and saved for later.
