Big Garden Birdwatch 2022

𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙞𝙜 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙙𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 2022?

In the last 50 years we have lost 40 million birds in the UK alone. Last year in 2021 there was 17 million birds recorded in the UK with approx. a million people taking part!

Back in 2021 the House Sparrow was a very common site taking the 1st place in the most sited bird, whilst the Blue Tit was close in second place! Unfortunately Greenfinches and Chaffinches were at a record low, not even being in the top 10 most sited birds!

1. House Sparrow

2. Blue Tit

3. Starling

4. Blackbird

5. Woodpigeon

6. Robin

7. Great Tit

8. Goldfinch

9. Magpie

10. Long Tailed Tit

By taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch you will be helping the RSPB in making a huge difference to save these birds and other animals and also help save their habitats. It has been recorded that around two-fifths of UK species are in decline including animals such as the red squirrel, water vole and turtle doves.

How Can I Help?

1. Watch the birds for one hour between the 28th January - 30th January 2022

2. Count how many of each species are birds land in your garden, park, allotment or even out and about.

3. Go online and record what you see
