Provide protein-rich mealworms for birds.
Mealworms are a natural part of many wild birds’ diets. Leaving this food out should attract wild birds such as Robins, Bluetits, Blackbirds, Starlings, Dunnocks, Sparrows, and Wrens. They’re also great for introducing to fledglings, as they provide essential nutrients for young wild birds that only come from insects.
Mealworms are also high in protein, preventing dull and brittle feathers. Our dried Calci Worms are an excellent option for introducing more calcium into a bird's diet, as they contain roughly 20-40 times more calcium than other dried mealworms.
Mealworms are safe, suitable snacks for feeding wild birds.
Both live and dried mealworms are high in protein, fibre and essential fats. However, live mealworms are slightly more nutritionally beneficial due to their moisture, but dried mealworms have the benefit of having a much longer storage life.
Soaking dried mealworms is a great way to get the best of both worlds – giving hydration and convenience of storage. Soak your dried mealworms in clean water for approximately 30 minutes before putting them in your garden in one of our bird feeders.
